First, a disclaimer: This post is about my first attempt at Red Wine Cupcakes. Being the mature adult that I am, I had quite a bit of fun dancing around my kitchen, drinking a few glasses of said wine throughout this process. As a result, this post may not be as eloquently written as I would have liked, but oh well, I'm doing it anyway.
There's something oddly satisfying in combining the things you love. I'd already been doing it in my fandom cupcakes and now I wanted to access my more grown-up side and put my favorite alcoholic beverages in cupcake form. I decided to start with a chocolate and red wine cupcake.

Okay so clearly these weren't the only ingredients I used, but arranging alllllll of the items didn't look artsy enough for my photos (lol, so I caved, sue me. Can;t have ya knowing my whole recipe now can I?)
I decided to go with Cupcake Vineyards Red Velvet red wine. Besides the obvious, this wine has an unmistakable note of chocolate and a fruity twang that makes it ideal for the chocolate based cupcakes.

another difference was unlike my usual chocolate base, I added the cocoa powder to the dry ingredients. And WHOA at the difference it made. I'm telling you, these cupcakes melt in your mouth. This is also where glass of wine number one came into play.
And glass number two...
And glass number "I can totally dance like Beyonce".
AND SO, AFTER SIFTING, MIXING AND A WHOLE LOT OF OUT OF TUNE SINGING, THE CUPCAKES WERE FINALLY IN THE OVEN AND IT WAS TIME TO START THE FROSTING. NOW THIS IS WHERE THINGS GOT A BIT MESSY BECAUSE NOT ONLY DID I GO A BIT OVERBOARD TASTE-TESTING THE VERY ALCOHLIC BATTER, BUT I HAD TO DO A LOT OF GUESSWORK WITH MY FROSTING. AFTER TRIAL AND ERROE, I DECIDED TO MAKE A WINE REDUCTION TO DRIZZLE ON THE CAKES AND ADD THE REST TO A BUTTERCREAM. AND OMG WAS IT WORTH IT. THESE CUPCAKES TURNED OUT ABSOLUTELY AMAZING (THE WORD DIVINE JUST SOUNDS SO DAMN CORNY)
